JP Fortin – Managing Director, SME, Specialist Slurry Pipeline Engineer
Jean-Philippe (JP) Fortin is a specialist slurry pipeline engineer and subject matter expert with more than 25 years of complete project lifecycle experience. He began his career with industry leaders Pipeline Systems Inc (PSI) and later Ausenco, where he gained deep technical expertise and exposure to some of the most challenging slurry transport projects worldwide. He then transitioned to the client side, playing a key role in delivering major long-distance iron concentrate and water pipeline infrastructure in Australia, giving him valuable insight into the priorities of owners and operators.
JP’s career started with a strong grounding in hydraulic modelling and laboratory testing, which provided the technical foundation for his later work in the field. Early opportunities to work directly with clients and operations teams gave him a taste for solving real-world operational issues and reinforced the importance of practical, outcomes-focused engineering. Building on this experience, he went on to manage a global team responsible for delivering innovative, problem-solving solutions to projects in more than 15 countries. Over the course of his career, JP has contributed to the design and implementation of more than 20 long-distance slurry pipelines that are now successfully operating in commercial service.
Founding Fortin Pipelines in 2021 and Fortin Lab Services in 2024 was a natural progression—an opportunity to bring together his technical expertise, client-side experience, and global project delivery background. The firm embodies his vision for independent, holistic consultancy, continuing a professional journey defined by engineering with vision and creating connections with purpose.
